Was browsing when I came across a blog about three young British guys doing a charity ride, in training the guy in the photo called Joe had gone on holiday and put on 6kg (result can be seen). Throughout other blog posts he is constantly teased for this weight gain or the “damage to his waistline. Some of my favourities.
“low fat flapjacks and a pair of lycra shorts that must have got tighter in the wash”
“Soon after setting off the feeling of sickness set in, and not just because Joe’s elastic waistline had become just that bit tighter.”
“In fact, Joe has put on 6kg (pretty much a stone) in flabby man-padding since going away, extra weight that will hamper his every pedal stroke when the boys head off South in just under a month. As anyone who has seen Joe ride (the term is used here loosely) a bike will testify, though, anything that acts a cushion when the man clumsily falls onto hard tarmac is no doubt a good thing.
All that extra belly-fat comes with other benefits, too”
I love how also they make fun of the fact that even when in training he continued to overeat and such. Not the best photo (wish he could take that shirt off!!) but a funny context and story
